A well dressed gentleman reduced to his best jacket, collar up, zip half undone, holding the flowers.
Aldo is a sculptural vase in iron, shaped as a tailored torso with a standing collar and a rope zip pulled halfway down the chest, complete with its little zipper tab. His surface is deeply crinkled like crushed cloth, finished in a dark textured bronze style finish brushed through with gold.
At 41cm tall he holds bare branches or dried stems through his open collar, turning a coffee table, a console, or a bookshelf into a small gallery moment.

Dust with a soft dry brush so the crinkled texture keeps its shadows. For fresh stems sit a slim jar of water inside him, and lift him by the body rather than the collar.

What is he made of?
Iron, with the crushed texture worked into the surface and the collar, rope zip, and tab all part of the sculpture, in a dark bronze style finish brushed with gold.
Can he hold water for fresh flowers?
We recommend a slim jar or sleeve of water inside for fresh stems. Dried branches and stems can go straight in through the collar opening.
Is he a vase or a sculpture?
Both. He stands perfectly well empty as a sculptural piece, and the opening at his collar takes stems whenever you want him working.
Does the zip move?
No, the zip and its tab are fixed parts of the casting, caught halfway down exactly where the sculptor wanted them.
Will mine look exactly like the photos?
Very close. The gold brushing is applied by hand across the crinkled surface, so where it catches varies a little from piece to piece, which is part of the intended character.
Because Aldo is hand-finished, slight variations in patina, texture, and grain are natural and add to the unique character of each piece. Colour may also vary slightly between screens, all photography is taken in natural light.
