A small cherub with his arms up, holding a planter for whatever you are growing this season.
Dorian is a cherub figure moulded in resin and finished in distressed white, with a shallow bowl held above his shoulders that takes a potted plant. The white is worn back over the raised detail, so the wings, the curls and the folds of the drapery catch a little more light than the recesses do. Every piece is hand-finished, which means no two are shaded quite the same way.
He stands 61cm high on a base 38cm wide and 28cm deep, and weighs about 7kg, enough to sit steadily on a paved terrace or a hallway floor. Use him beside a doorway, at the end of a verandah, or as the anchor of a group of planters on a landing.

How to style it
Dorian works best when the planting is simple and the pot itself stays out of sight.
- Plant a small boston fern or asparagus fern so the fronds spill over the rim and soften the bowl.
- Set him at the foot of a staircase with a lantern on the first tread for an entry that feels finished.
- On a covered verandah, pair him with terracotta pots in odd numbers, three or five, at different heights.
- Trailing ivy or string of pearls suits him if you want the greenery to run down over his shoulder.
Stylist's TipSit the plant in a plastic nursery pot inside the bowl rather than potting straight in. You can lift it out to water, and swap the planting with the seasons without touching the finish.
Care & Keeping
Dust with a dry soft brush, getting into the curls and the folds of the drapery where dust settles. Wipe with a barely damp cloth if a mark needs it, then dry straight away. Keep water from pooling in the bowl by using a nursery pot with its own saucer, and bring him under cover in heavy weather. Avoid solvents and abrasive cleaners, they will strip the distressed white.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Dorian live outside?
Under cover, yes. Resin copes with a verandah, porch or covered courtyard. Full sun and constant rain will chalk and fade the finish over time, so keep him sheltered.
What size pot fits the bowl?
A standard 14 to 15cm nursery pot sits comfortably inside it. Anything wider will overhang the rim.
Is there a drainage hole?
No. Use a nursery pot with its own saucer inside the bowl so water does not sit in it.
How heavy is he to move?
About 7kg. One person can carry him, though it is easier with both hands under the base rather than lifting by the bowl or the arms.
Does he match the rest of the range?
The distressed white is the same tone we use across our sculptures, so he groups well with the other angel and cherub pieces.
Because Dorian is hand-finished, slight variations in shading and the depth of the distressing are natural and add to the character of each piece. Colour may also vary slightly between screens, all photography is taken in natural light.

It was my testing the waters first purchase to check out this new store & what’s on offer. I loved the idea of supplying cast iron cute animal figurines as they’re practical, good looking, solid durable material, great rust finish (no need to buy expensive rust effect paint). Just ready to weather and brings a smile on your dial. I placed my frog with his hands up as if in religious praying gesture next to the concrete funny sign scored at Vinnies reading: grant me patience Lord but hurry - I believe the praying frog and the sign go comically together. I’m thinking of getting the other frog too in its hilarious pose possibly in green patina for contrast. I can confirm it’s heavy cast iron with attractive rust patina. These casts fill the gap in the market dominated by laser cut cortina steel offerings. Just something old school different and complimentary to your garden /house decor. Pleased it’s introduced to Australian market and once for change not made in China… but in France known for its cast iron tradition. We own 18th century French anvil won at an antique auction which is our proud possession so happy to score more in heavy casts.

This may not show on the store website that well but they’re actually old gold colour. It’s lightweight thin metal so perhaps inside or sheltered outdoor space would suit them the best as it may rust out & some fragile parts of the tail break exposed to the weather. They’re as large as described, cleverly designed for packaging - legs are separate with tightening screw. They make an impact due to their size & fit almost any decor with the colour & style.
