Anaïs French Provincial Trumpet Urn Planter, Antique White & Gilt 50cm

A tall trumpet urn in chalk white, worn back to the gilt beneath the way an old gilded piece softens with age.

Anaïs is a trumpet urn planter, the tall bell-flared shape of a French gilded urn. It is cast magnesia composite with a beaded rim, a draped lambrequin band below the bell, a gadrooned lower bowl and an acanthus collar on the stem, all on a stepped square plinth. The finish is an antique white worn back to a warm gilt-toned undertone, chipped and rubbed so the gold shows through like an old painted-and-gilded piece.

It stands 50.5 cm tall and has real weight to it, so it holds a spot indoors or out. The open bell takes a generous arrangement of branches or stems, or it can stand empty as a sculptural urn. Set it on the floor by a doorway, or raise it on a console or plinth. The branches shown are for styling and are not included.

Care & Keeping

Dust gently with a soft dry cloth. The cast magnesia finish suits indoors or a covered outdoor spot, and the worn white and gilt will mellow further outside over time. Keep it out of waterlogged soil and standing water, and bring it under cover in frost. Use a liner or a separate pot when planting so moisture does not sit against the inside.

Because Anaïs is hand-finished, slight variations in tone and the worn white and gilt are natural and add to the character of each piece. Colour may also vary slightly between screens, all photography is taken in natural light.
