A frame of forty-eight hand-painted tiles, each one a small piece of Mediterranean colour, set around a generous rectangular mirror.
The Salomé wall mirror is built around a frame of hand-painted maiolica-style tiles, every one a different motif, in the soft blues, terracotta reds, ochre yellows, and deep greens of the Mediterranean. The patterns nod to the painted ceramics of Provence, Sicily, and southern Spain, the kind of tilework you find in old farmhouse kitchens and sunlit courtyards. The frame is finished with a slim brass corner detail and a warm timber edge, which keeps the colour grounded.
At 82cm tall and 62cm wide, Salomé suits an entryway, a hallway, above a console, or in a powder room where the colour can carry the wall on its own. The painted tiles add depth and warmth that a plain framed mirror simply cannot, and the rectangular shape keeps it versatile across French country, Mediterranean, and eclectic interiors.
Why we love it
◆A statement piece with quiet roots, hand-painted tilework that nods to old Provençal kitchens, Sicilian courtyards, and Andalusian farmhouses
◆Forty-eight hand-painted tiles, every motif different, no two pieces identical, the kind of variation that makes it feel collected rather than mass-produced
◆Wall-mounted, ready to hang, brass corner detail and timber edge keep the colour grounded; sits beautifully in entryways, hallways, bedrooms, and powder rooms
◆A confident colour piece, brings warmth and movement to a white-walled room without needing artwork or styling to support it
Hung in a hallway with a turned-leg console and a soft natural-fibre rug to balance the colour
In a bedroom on a feature wall, with linen bedding and an antique-style bedside lamp
Stylist's Tip A bold colour piece like Salomé works best with quiet styling around it. Keep the surrounding wall and console restrained in cream, linen, or natural timber, and let the tilework be the colour story for the room.
Care & Keeping
Display indoors only, away from direct moisture and prolonged direct sunlight. Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth. The glazed tile surface can be wiped lightly with a slightly damp cloth if needed, but avoid harsh chemical cleaners, abrasive sponges, or anything that could lift the painted detail.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are the tiles really hand-painted?
Yes. Each tile is hand-painted in a maiolica-inspired style, which means small variations in line work, colour density, and pattern are completely normal. No two Salomé mirrors are identical, and that variation is part of the piece's character.
What style of decor does Salomé suit?
Salomé is a natural fit for French country, Mediterranean, Provençal, and eclectic interiors. The colour palette also complements coastal, Hamptons-with-a-twist, and warm-modern spaces where a confident accent piece is welcome.
How big is the Salomé mirror?
Salomé measures 81.8 cm tall and 61.8 cm wide, with a 2.5 cm depth. That's a solid mid-size wall mirror, larger than a vanity mirror but smaller than a full-length leaner. It hangs comfortably above a console, dresser, or vanity.
Is it suitable for bathrooms?
Yes, in a well-ventilated bathroom or powder room. The glazed tile surface handles light humidity well, but avoid placing it directly above a shower or in a heavily steamy environment, as prolonged moisture can affect the timber backing over time.
How is Salomé hung?
Salomé is wall-mounted with a fixing on the back of the timber frame. At 7.7kg, please use a wall hanger appropriate for the weight and your wall type (a stud or wall plug is recommended over a single nail in plasterboard).
Because Salomé is hand-painted, slight variations in tile pattern, colour density, and line work are natural and add to the unique character of each piece. Colour may also vary slightly between screens, all photography is taken in natural light.

I have never been a clock-watcher, but all that changed with Maude. I can't stop looking at her. Out of the box, slip in an AA battery and on to the wall, just like that! She is simply gorgeous.
This is a present for my horse loving daughter in law. I'm sure it will take pride of place on her mantle piece. Again I love this Web site which I will be visiting often.
Found this beautiful elegant Swan for my garden online via a search at Chateau Living. A great price, quality and excellent ordering and delivery. Would definitely purchase from this business again. They have such a beautiful variety of products.
It was my testing the waters first purchase to check out this new store & what’s on offer. I loved the idea of supplying cast iron cute animal figurines as they’re practical, good looking, solid durable material, great rust finish (no need to buy expensive rust effect paint). Just ready to weather and brings a smile on your dial. I placed my frog with his hands up as if in religious praying gesture next to the concrete funny sign scored at Vinnies reading: grant me patience Lord but hurry - I believe the praying frog and the sign go comically together. I’m thinking of getting the other frog too in its hilarious pose possibly in green patina for contrast. I can confirm it’s heavy cast iron with attractive rust patina. These casts fill the gap in the market dominated by laser cut cortina steel offerings. Just something old school different and complimentary to your garden /house decor. Pleased it’s introduced to Australian market and once for change not made in China… but in France known for its cast iron tradition. We own 18th century French anvil won at an antique auction which is our proud possession so happy to score more in heavy casts.
This may not show on the store website that well but they’re actually old gold colour. It’s lightweight thin metal so perhaps inside or sheltered outdoor space would suit them the best as it may rust out & some fragile parts of the tail break exposed to the weather. They’re as large as described, cleverly designed for packaging - legs are separate with tightening screw. They make an impact due to their size & fit almost any decor with the colour & style.
I was so happy with Chateau Living. Brilliant customer service & speedy delivery. How lucky we are to have an Australian option giving us all these beautiful items for our homes. Highly recommend
I bought this piece as I could see it in my mind's eye having an suspended impact with my high end Brazilian quartz crystal display. Such a well made piece, sturdy and if I didn't know better, from another time. I am planning a candle holder from Chateau Living to complete this display, just having trouble deciding from the elegant range they have available. Very pleased :) Who would have thought you could combine Brazil with French Provincial so perfectly.
