Barry is a wall-mounted decorative bee with a sculpted fir wood body and laser-cut iron wings, legs, and antennae in a deep matte black. The body is shaped in three rounded segments with a smaller domed head and small carved eye detail, finished in a soft natural wood tone with a whitewashed dry-brush highlight along the high points. The wings are veined with delicate cut-out detail, reading like an old natural history illustration against a white wall.
At 40.5 cm wide and 23.5 cm tall, Barry reads as a generous statement on a wall rather than a small accent. Barry's bold matte black wings work best where you want graphic contrast, here are a few placements:
Mount him solo on a white or pale wall, where his silhouette reads strongest against the light background
Pair with Honey (white) for a high-contrast black-and-white moment, or group all four with Maya (yellow) and Willy (sage green) for a four-bee swarm across a feature wall
Style above a console or sideboard in an entryway or study, where the graphic silhouette reads as a small piece of art

Stylist's Tip
Bees in nature don't fly in formation, and they look best on a wall the same way. When grouping Barry with his sisters, stagger the heights and angle the bodies slightly so they read as a swarm in flight rather than a tidy row. Vary the spacing too, with some closer together and some drifting out.
Care & Keeping
Dust gently with a soft dry cloth or a soft-bristle brush, paying attention to the laser-cut wing detail where dust collects. Avoid wet cleaning, harsh chemicals, and prolonged damp. The wood body can be wiped with a barely damp cloth and dried immediately. Indoor only, the painted iron wings and natural wood body are not weather-rated.

Does it come with wall fixings?
No, wall fixings are not supplied. Barry weighs only 0.28 kg net, so a small picture hook, panel pin, or 3M adhesive hook is enough on plasterboard. On harder walls (brick, render), a lightweight wall anchor will do.
Are the wings sharp?
The laser-cut iron wings have smooth, finished edges suitable for indoor decorative use. They are not weapon-sharp, but as with any thin metal, handle carefully when installing and keep out of reach of small children who might grab at the wings.
Can I use him outdoors or in a covered patio?
Indoor only. The wood body and painted iron wings are not weather-rated, so direct rain, humidity, or prolonged sun will affect the finish. He is well suited to sunrooms, enclosed conservatories, and garden rooms with full weather protection.
How does Barry compare to the other bees in the collection?
All four bees share the same body shape and 40.5 cm wingspan, with the wing colour the point of difference. Maya wears warm buttercup yellow, Willy wears soft sage green, Barry wears matte black, and Honey wears antique white. Lovely Leonie Beehive Honey Pot Set with a wooden lid that enhances the metal base, beautiful when the sun catches the antique gold metal on the stacked coils. Love my mirrors ….unfortunately one mirror was cracked during transport but the guys from Chateau Living went above and beyond to get a new replacement mirror and personally delivered it ..you don’t get service like that these days …
