Stephen Classical Pedestal Urn, Distressed Antique White 50cm

Stephen is a classical urn in the campana shape, a wide flared bowl on a turned pedestal foot. The rim is ringed with acanthus leaves, a garland swag hangs below it, and the lower bowl is fluted, the kind of detail you find on old French garden urns. The chalky antique white finish is rubbed back to grey and ochre in the hollows, so it reads as a piece that has stood out in the weather for years.

It stands about 50 cm tall and 28.5 cm across, made from cast magnesia composite, a stone-like material with real presence. Stand it on the floor by a doorway or a hearth, on a console, or out on a covered porch. Fill it with tall branches or dried stems, drop a potted plant inside, or leave it empty as a sculptural piece on its own.

Care & Keeping

Dust with a soft dry brush or cloth. The chalky finish and the worn patches are part of the aged look rather than faults. Keep Stephen indoors or under cover, since constant weather will wear the finish faster. For live plants, sit a potted plant in its own liner inside rather than planting straight in, and empty any water that gathers so it does not sit against the base.

Because Stephen is hand-finished, slight variations in patina, texture and tone are natural and add to the unique character of each piece. Colour may also vary slightly between screens, all photography is taken in natural light.
