Mathieu French Provincial Arch Window Mirror, Natural Timber & Iron

A tall arched window mirror in warm honeyed timber, the bones of an old French chapel window pulled into the wall, a dramatic architectural piece that reads more like a found object than a manufactured mirror.

The Mathieu stands at 158 cm tall and 86 cm wide, designed as a wall-mounted statement piece that turns a flat wall into a focal point. Its arched silhouette is built from natural fir timber in warm honey tones, the outer edge softly distressed with chalky whitewash worn back to expose the grain beneath. A slim black iron centre rod runs the full height of the piece, dividing it into two glazed panels, the look of an old French double-window pulled from a salvaged farmhouse.

The multi-pane glass reflects natural light back into the room and creates the illusion of a real window where there isn't one. A natural fit for entryways, dining rooms, hallways, and grand bedrooms, and a perfect counterpoint to a flat or featureless wall that needs architecture.

Care & Keeping

Display indoors only, away from direct moisture and prolonged direct sunlight. Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth, clean the glass with a slightly damp microfibre, taking care not to soak the timber frame. The natural raw timber finish means the wood is more sensitive to moisture than a sealed or painted piece, keep wet cloths and chemical cleaners well away from the frame. Small variations in grain, knot detail, distressed paintwork along the edges, and iron oxidation are part of the piece's character. For safe wall-mounting, ensure your fixings are appropriate for the 16 kg weight and ideally fixed into a wall stud.
