A tall, slender mirror dressed at top and bottom with romantic scrollwork, the soft chalk of distressed paint settling into every curl, warm timber grain bleeding gently through. A French dressing-room piece, leaned against the wall as if it has always been there.
The Lucien stands at 150 cm tall, its narrow rectangular frame finished in a heavily distressed whitewash that has worn back to expose the warm honey tones of the timber beneath. Applied ornate scrollwork, separate moulded pieces in a softer chalk-white finish, sits at the crown and base of the frame, the contrast between the painted ornament and the worn timber doing all the work.

The Lucien wants a soft wall and quiet styling, the scrollwork does the heavy lifting. A few of our favourite ways to style it:

Care & Keeping
Display indoors only, away from direct moisture and prolonged direct sunlight. Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth or a soft long-bristled brush to reach into the scrollwork detail. Clean the glass with a slightly damp microfibre, taking care not to soak the timber frame or scrollwork ornaments. Avoid wet cloths and chemical cleaners on the painted surfaces, the whitewashed finish is intentionally aged and may lift if dampened. The distressed finish is intentional; small variations in patina, paintwork, and timber grain are part of the piece's character. For safety, ensure the mirror leans firmly against a flat wall and consider a discreet wall-anchor strap in homes with children or pets.

Can the Lucien be hung on the wall instead of leaned?
The Lucien is designed primarily as a leaner, its tall, slender proportions and weight make leaning the safest and most flattering presentation. If you'd like to wall-mount it, we strongly recommend a qualified handyperson with appropriate heavy-duty fixings into wall studs, as the mirror weighs 11 kg.
Are the scrollwork ornaments removable or fixed?
The scrollwork ornaments are securely fixed to the timber frame at the top and bottom and are not designed to be removed. They are part of the piece's permanent design.
Is it safe with children or pets in the home?
As with any tall leaning mirror, we recommend using a discreet anti-tip wall-anchor strap (available cheaply from any hardware store) to secure the top of the frame to the wall. This is standard practice for any leaning floor mirror and ensures peace of mind in a busy household.

It was my testing the waters first purchase to check out this new store & what’s on offer. I loved the idea of supplying cast iron cute animal figurines as they’re practical, good looking, solid durable material, great rust finish (no need to buy expensive rust effect paint). Just ready to weather and brings a smile on your dial. I placed my frog with his hands up as if in religious praying gesture next to the concrete funny sign scored at Vinnies reading: grant me patience Lord but hurry - I believe the praying frog and the sign go comically together. I’m thinking of getting the other frog too in its hilarious pose possibly in green patina for contrast. I can confirm it’s heavy cast iron with attractive rust patina. These casts fill the gap in the market dominated by laser cut cortina steel offerings. Just something old school different and complimentary to your garden /house decor. Pleased it’s introduced to Australian market and once for change not made in China… but in France known for its cast iron tradition. We own 18th century French anvil won at an antique auction which is our proud possession so happy to score more in heavy casts.

This may not show on the store website that well but they’re actually old gold colour. It’s lightweight thin metal so perhaps inside or sheltered outdoor space would suit them the best as it may rust out & some fragile parts of the tail break exposed to the weather. They’re as large as described, cleverly designed for packaging - legs are separate with tightening screw. They make an impact due to their size & fit almost any decor with the colour & style.
