Bayard is a horse's head modelled in magnesia and finished in antique gold. The gilt sits high on the cheekbones and brow, then sinks to a dark bronze through the hollows of the mane, so the surface shifts as light moves around it. The face is worked down to the flared nostril and the line of the jaw.

At 43 cm tall, Bayard is a statement piece rather than a shelf trinket. It holds a console, a mantel, an entry table, or a stack of books in a study, and it reads from across the room. Stock is a small run only.
