Martine is the largest of three woven wire cage lanterns, an urn-shaped piece in aged metal with a weathered grey-green finish. The body is a twist of open wire mesh with a banded base, topped by an embossed, pierced collar and a looped carry handle. A clear glass insert sits inside on a small stand to hold a pillar candle and shield the flame.
At 31 cm tall and 21.5 cm across at its widest, it has real presence on a table, a hearth or a step, indoors or on a covered verandah, and the handle means it can hang or be carried out to the garden. Use it alone, or with the medium Louise and small Berenice for a graduated trio. The look is French Provincial with a rustic, farmhouse edge.
