A carved acanthus corbel with broad furled leaves and a warm timber shelf, classical architecture scaled for a small wall.
Rosalie is a wall-mounted corbel shelf with a carved magnesium oxide composite body and a solid fir wood top. The corbel reads as a Corinthian capital in miniature, with broad acanthus leaves curling outward and downward, finished in a soft distressed whitewash that wears back to a sandy undertone along the high points. The fir wood top is left in a warm natural finish for contrast against the white carving.
At 25.5 cm tall and 29.5 cm wide, Rosalie has a slightly broader top than her companion Marguerite, sized to hold a small vase, candle, framed photo, or a cherub from our sculpture collection. She works as a single architectural accent above a console, beside a doorway, or as one half of a pair flanking a mirror or piece of art.
Why we love it
- ◆ Classical acanthus leaf carving, the broad symmetrical leaves read as Corinthian column capital, architectural rather than decorative
- ◆ Two-tone material story, distressed whitewash on the MGO corbel paired with a warm fir wood top, the contrast gives the piece depth
- ◆ Functional display shelf, the top platform is sized to hold a small vase, candle, framed photo, or sculpture
- ◆ Pair with Marguerite, the matching scroll-rosette corbel for a contrasting wall pair, or pair two Rosalie together for a matched symmetrical display

How to style it
Rosalie's broader top platform suits a few different display approaches:
- Mount her above a console or sideboard with a small vase of dried stems or a pillar candle on top
- Pair Rosalie with Marguerite to flank a framed mirror or piece of artwork for an architectural pair with contrasting carving
- Display a small cherub from our sculpture collection on top for a layered French country vignette
- Use her in a hallway, entryway, or beside a doorway to anchor a small area of wall that would otherwise sit empty
Stylist's Tip Rosalie's broader top platform handles a wider base object better than a tall narrow one. A small bowl, low candle, or framed photo sits well, where a tall slim vase risks looking stranded.
Care & Keeping
Dust gently with a soft dry cloth or a soft-bristle brush for the carved leaf detail. The magnesium oxide body is porous, so avoid wet cleaning, harsh chemicals, and prolonged damp. The fir wood top can be wiped with a barely damp cloth and dried immediately. Indoor use only.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it come with wall fixings?
No, wall fixings are not supplied. Rosalie has a mounting point on the back of the corbel and needs a single appropriate wall fixing for your wall type (masonry, plasterboard with stud, etc). For plasterboard without a stud behind it, use a hollow wall anchor rated for at least 5 kg.
How much weight can the top hold?
The top shelf comfortably holds objects up to around 2 kg — small vases, candles, framed photos, sculptures, or styled clusters of dried stems. Avoid loading the top with heavier objects, as the load also transfers to the wall fixing.
What's the difference between Rosalie and Marguerite?
Both are corbel wall shelves with the same warm fir wood top and distressed whitewash MGO body, but the carving is different. Rosalie has broader, symmetrical acanthus leaves (Corinthian-style), while Marguerite has a central rosette flanked by tighter curling scrollwork. Rosalie's top is also slightly wider, suiting a wider base object. The two work beautifully as a contrasting pair.
Can I buy a pair?
Yes. This listing is for one corbel shelf. To pair, simply add two to your cart. The two pieces are cast from the same mould so they're identical rather than mirrored, which suits a symmetrical flanking display.
What style of decor does she suit?
French Provincial, French country, English country, traditional and architectural interiors. The classical acanthus carving also lends well to neoclassical, Hamptons, and modern-vintage spaces where a single architectural accent is doing the heavy lifting.
Will every piece look exactly like the photos?
Rosalie is hand-finished, so the chip pattern, paint distribution, and timber grain vary slightly from piece to piece. That's part of the appeal and the reason she reads as aged architectural salvage rather than mass-produced.
Because Rosalie is hand-finished, slight variations in patina, texture, and timber grain are natural and add to the unique character of each piece. Colour may also vary slightly between screens, all photography is taken in natural light.
