A small cherub curled on top of a weathered orb, head resting on her arms, halfway between dreaming and watching.
Mathilde is a different shape from our seated cherubs. She perches on top of a smooth orb mounted on a scrolled architectural base, her knees pulled up and head resting softly on her folded arms. The whole piece is cast in magnesium oxide composite and finished in a distressed whitewash that wears back to a sandy undertone along the wings, the curve of the orb, and the carved detail on the base.
At 25 cm tall and only 12 cm wide at the base, she has a slim vertical footprint that suits a console corner, a styled shelf, a bedside table, or the edge of a mantel. The finial format also makes her work as a single decorative object on a dining table or sideboard, where a low free figurine might get lost.
