A vaulted iron lacework dome on a pedestal base, crowned with a fleur-de-lis, glowing softly with candlelight through the mesh.
Cécile is a tall French Provincial candle cloche built from aged iron mesh with a sculpted fleur-de-lis finial and a foliate scrollwork medallion fixed to the front. The dome lifts away from a pedestal base, revealing a pierced lacework tray ringed with petal and quatrefoil cutouts. Every surface has been hand-finished in a soft grey-brown patina that reads as quietly weathered, the kind of finish that looks at home in a Provençal courtyard or a slate-floored hallway.
Standing 48 cm tall, Cécile is the larger of a pair. She holds two pillar candles comfortably under the dome, throws warm light through the mesh, and works just as beautifully with the cloche removed, used as a decorative tray for candles, soaps, or a small posy. For a layered grouping, style her with her smaller companion Fleurine Candle Cloche on a console, dining table or covered verandah.
Please NoteThis listing is for the large 48 cm Cécile Candle Cloche only. The smaller 46 cm Fleurine Candle Cloche shown in some styled photographs is sold separately. Pillar candles, side table and other props are for styling purposes only and are not included.
Why we love it
◆Quiet drama for a mantel or console, the fleur-de-lis finial and pierced lace edge give height and texture without shouting.
◆Aged iron, hand-finished, the soft grey patina warms beautifully against candlelight and reads as gently antique rather than new.
◆Two pieces in one, the dome lifts off so the pedestal works on its own as a lacework cake stand or candle tray.
◆Designed as a pair, pair Cécile with her smaller sister Fleurine for a tiered grouping on a sideboard or dining centrepiece.

How to style it
Cécile is built to layer. A few ways to bring her into the room.
Pair her with her smaller sister Fleurine Candle Cloche for a tiered grouping on a console or sideboard.
Cluster with other candle holders and a few stems of dried lavender or eucalyptus for a soft French country mantel.
Lift the dome off and use the lacework pedestal as a tray for two ivory pillars, a stack of vintage books, or a tea ritual.
Set her on a covered verandah or conservatory shelf with a chunky LED pillar candle for warm evening glow.
Stylist's Tip
Style Cécile slightly behind Fleurine on a console so the two finials read as a layered silhouette. Light battery-operated pillars for a soft, safe evening glow without smoke.
Care & Keeping
Dust gently with a soft dry cloth or a soft brush to clear the mesh. Keep out of direct rain and prolonged damp to preserve the aged patina. We recommend battery-operated LED pillar candles inside the dome for safety and to keep the mesh free of soot. Use real candles only with care and never leave a flame unattended.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use Cécile outdoors?
Yes, in covered outdoor areas such as a verandah, conservatory, or sheltered patio. Avoid leaving her in direct rain or full afternoon sun for extended periods so the aged finish stays as you bought it.
What style of decor does Cécile suit?
She sits naturally in French Provincial, French country, cottage, and quiet eclectic interiors. The aged iron and fleur-de-lis read equally well in a Provençal kitchen, a country hallway, or a slate-floored conservatory.
How big is she?
Cécile stands 48 cm tall with a 26 cm wide pedestal base. That's roughly the height of a standard table lamp, with real visual weight on a console or sideboard. The smaller Fleurine is 46 cm tall and 23 cm wide, designed to layer just in front.
Will each piece look exactly like the photos?
Cécile is hand-finished, so slight variation in patina, brushwork, and mesh tone is part of the character of every piece. Screens also display colour differently, so the in-person finish may read a touch lighter or warmer than the listing images.
Would Cécile work as a gift?
Yes. She's a generous-feeling piece at the $85 mark and reads as considered rather than fussy. Good for housewarmings, anniversaries, and anyone building a French country home.
Because Cécile is hand-finished, slight variations in patina, texture, and grain are natural and add to the unique character of each piece. Colour may also vary slightly between screens, all photography is taken in natural light.

I have never been a clock-watcher, but all that changed with Maude. I can't stop looking at her. Out of the box, slip in an AA battery and on to the wall, just like that! She is simply gorgeous.
This is a present for my horse loving daughter in law. I'm sure it will take pride of place on her mantle piece. Again I love this Web site which I will be visiting often.
Found this beautiful elegant Swan for my garden online via a search at Chateau Living. A great price, quality and excellent ordering and delivery. Would definitely purchase from this business again. They have such a beautiful variety of products.
It was my testing the waters first purchase to check out this new store & what’s on offer. I loved the idea of supplying cast iron cute animal figurines as they’re practical, good looking, solid durable material, great rust finish (no need to buy expensive rust effect paint). Just ready to weather and brings a smile on your dial. I placed my frog with his hands up as if in religious praying gesture next to the concrete funny sign scored at Vinnies reading: grant me patience Lord but hurry - I believe the praying frog and the sign go comically together. I’m thinking of getting the other frog too in its hilarious pose possibly in green patina for contrast. I can confirm it’s heavy cast iron with attractive rust patina. These casts fill the gap in the market dominated by laser cut cortina steel offerings. Just something old school different and complimentary to your garden /house decor. Pleased it’s introduced to Australian market and once for change not made in China… but in France known for its cast iron tradition. We own 18th century French anvil won at an antique auction which is our proud possession so happy to score more in heavy casts.
This may not show on the store website that well but they’re actually old gold colour. It’s lightweight thin metal so perhaps inside or sheltered outdoor space would suit them the best as it may rust out & some fragile parts of the tail break exposed to the weather. They’re as large as described, cleverly designed for packaging - legs are separate with tightening screw. They make an impact due to their size & fit almost any decor with the colour & style.
I was so happy with Chateau Living. Brilliant customer service & speedy delivery. How lucky we are to have an Australian option giving us all these beautiful items for our homes. Highly recommend
I bought this piece as I could see it in my mind's eye having an suspended impact with my high end Brazilian quartz crystal display. Such a well made piece, sturdy and if I didn't know better, from another time. I am planning a candle holder from Chateau Living to complete this display, just having trouble deciding from the elegant range they have available. Very pleased :) Who would have thought you could combine Brazil with French Provincial so perfectly.
