A small pair of wings, spread above a sideboard where a big piece would shout.
Yvette is a matched pair of angel wings, a left and a right, hung side by side with the tips sweeping outward. Each wing is moulded with layered feather detail, from the small overlapping feathers at the shoulder out to the long primaries, and finished in a distressed white rubbed back to a warm clay tone where the relief stands proud.
They are cast in a moulded composite with a stone-like weight and feel, so they read as salvage rather than as something new. The chipped, worn finish is applied on purpose and is part of the charm.
Each wing is 22 cm across, so the pair spans about 44 cm hung together. That is deliberately small. It suits the wall above a console, a narrow stretch between windows, the space over a bedhead in a small room, or a gallery wall where it sits among frames rather than replacing them. If you want the same shape with real presence, our larger pair spans 82 cm.

How to style it
A few ways to use them:
- Centre them above a console or a sideboard, with a lamp to one side
- Hang them in a gallery wall, as the one piece that is not a frame
- Use them in a narrow stretch of wall between two windows
- Pair them with the 82 cm wings in another room so the motif repeats
- Lean them on a mantel or a deep shelf rather than hanging
Stylist's Tip Small wall pieces float if you hang them too high. Bring them down closer to whatever sits beneath, a lamp, a stack of books, a jug, so they read as part of that group rather than as something stranded on its own.
Care & Keeping
Dust with a soft, dry brush, working along the feathers. The composite is stone-like and can chip if knocked or dropped, so handle and hang with care, particularly at the thin wing tips. The chipped, worn finish is intended and part of the look, so there is no need to touch it up. Keep them indoors and away from damp.

Is this a pair?

How does it compare to the big wings?
Same design and the same finish, roughly half the span. The larger pair runs about 82 cm across and is a proper statement above a sideboard. This one is for a smaller wall.
How do I hang them?
The set is only 0.5 kg, so an ordinary picture hook or plasterboard fixing is enough. Mark your centre point first and set each wing the same distance out from it.
Can I use them outdoors?
They are made for indoor use. The composite and painted finish are not suited to weather, so keep them inside and dry.
Because Yvette is finished by hand, the distressing and tone vary a little from piece to piece, so no two are exactly alike. Colour may also vary slightly between screens, all photography is taken in natural light.

It was my testing the waters first purchase to check out this new store & what’s on offer. I loved the idea of supplying cast iron cute animal figurines as they’re practical, good looking, solid durable material, great rust finish (no need to buy expensive rust effect paint). Just ready to weather and brings a smile on your dial. I placed my frog with his hands up as if in religious praying gesture next to the concrete funny sign scored at Vinnies reading: grant me patience Lord but hurry - I believe the praying frog and the sign go comically together. I’m thinking of getting the other frog too in its hilarious pose possibly in green patina for contrast. I can confirm it’s heavy cast iron with attractive rust patina. These casts fill the gap in the market dominated by laser cut cortina steel offerings. Just something old school different and complimentary to your garden /house decor. Pleased it’s introduced to Australian market and once for change not made in China… but in France known for its cast iron tradition. We own 18th century French anvil won at an antique auction which is our proud possession so happy to score more in heavy casts.

This may not show on the store website that well but they’re actually old gold colour. It’s lightweight thin metal so perhaps inside or sheltered outdoor space would suit them the best as it may rust out & some fragile parts of the tail break exposed to the weather. They’re as large as described, cleverly designed for packaging - legs are separate with tightening screw. They make an impact due to their size & fit almost any decor with the colour & style.
