Shoulder height, slim as a candlestick, crowned in pierced gold.
Suzette is the taller of our two standing candle lanterns, a glazed six-sided body carried on a long tapered stem above a weighted round foot. The pierced crown on top is worked in open filigree and finished with a finial, venting the candle and breaking the light upward through the cutwork.
It is iron throughout in a warm antique gold, rubbed back along the stem and glazing bars so it reads as handled rather than new, with clear glass that keeps the flame the brightest thing in the piece.
At 137 cm it comes up near shoulder height, which is tall enough to hold a corner on its own and tall enough that the lit body sits above most furniture. That is the difference between this and the 113 cm version: this one competes with a bookcase, the shorter one sits with the sofa. A pair at both heights is better than two of either. How to style it
A few ways to use it:
- In an empty corner that needs height rather than another piece of furniture
- Beside the 113 cm version, so the two crowns step down
- At the turn of a staircase, where the light carries up the wall
- Either side of a fireplace or a wide doorway as a matched pair
- With an LED pillar if it will be lit for long stretches
Stylist's Tip At this height the crown is the part people see, so give it clear air above. Standing it under a low shelf or a sloping ceiling cuts off the one detail the whole piece is built around.
Care & Keeping
Wipe the glass with a soft dry cloth and dust the metal with a brush, which reaches the piercing in the crown. Never leave a lit candle unattended and keep it clear of curtains. It is tall and light, so stand it out of a walkway, away from a swinging door, and check the stem is seated firmly in the base before lighting. Keep it indoors.

How tall is it against a person?
137 cm, so around shoulder height on most adults and taller than a kitchen bench. It is a corner piece, not a table one.
Does it need assembling?
Yes, lightly. It is far too tall to ship upright, so the stem and base come apart in the carton and join together on arrival.
Is it stable at that height?
The foot is weighted and wider than the body. It is still tall and light, so place it where it will not be brushed past, particularly with a lit candle inside.
Should I buy this one or the 113 cm?
This one if it is going in an open corner or next to tall furniture, the shorter one if it is sitting beside seating. If you want two, take one of each rather than a matching pair.
Can it go outside?
It is made for indoor use. The antique gold finish is not weatherproof, so bring it in rather than leaving it out in the weather.
Because Suzette is finished by hand, the antique gold varies a little from piece to piece, so no two are exactly alike. Colour may also vary slightly between screens, all photography is taken in natural light.

It was my testing the waters first purchase to check out this new store & what’s on offer. I loved the idea of supplying cast iron cute animal figurines as they’re practical, good looking, solid durable material, great rust finish (no need to buy expensive rust effect paint). Just ready to weather and brings a smile on your dial. I placed my frog with his hands up as if in religious praying gesture next to the concrete funny sign scored at Vinnies reading: grant me patience Lord but hurry - I believe the praying frog and the sign go comically together. I’m thinking of getting the other frog too in its hilarious pose possibly in green patina for contrast. I can confirm it’s heavy cast iron with attractive rust patina. These casts fill the gap in the market dominated by laser cut cortina steel offerings. Just something old school different and complimentary to your garden /house decor. Pleased it’s introduced to Australian market and once for change not made in China… but in France known for its cast iron tradition. We own 18th century French anvil won at an antique auction which is our proud possession so happy to score more in heavy casts.

This may not show on the store website that well but they’re actually old gold colour. It’s lightweight thin metal so perhaps inside or sheltered outdoor space would suit them the best as it may rust out & some fragile parts of the tail break exposed to the weather. They’re as large as described, cleverly designed for packaging - legs are separate with tightening screw. They make an impact due to their size & fit almost any decor with the colour & style.
