Pip Wren + Styling Guide
The round white table from every courtyard in the south of France.
Giverny is a round bistro table on four scrolled iron legs that curve out from under the top, turn back on themselves in a tight volute, then run down to small pad feet. The curl of the scrollwork is the whole design, and from any angle you see two or three of them crossing.
The top is a plain round disc with a lipped edge, left undecorated so the base can do the talking. Everything is iron in an antique white, laid on softly and rubbed back along the scroll edges and the rim.
At 80 cm across and 81 cm tall it seats two comfortably and three at a push, at standard dining height. It is the right table for a courtyard, a covered verandah, a breakfast corner, or a conservatory. Pair it with our spindle back chair, or see what else is in the furniture collection.
Shown here styled against a limewashed brick wall with hanging plants, a birdcage and a cake stand. Those pieces are for styling only and are not included.
Why we love it
- ◆ Four scrolled legs that read as ironwork rather than as furniture legs.
- ◆ A plain top, which keeps it usable and lets the base carry the detail.
- ◆ Round, so it has no bad side and nothing to bark a shin on in a tight courtyard.
- ◆ Full dining height at 81 cm, not a low occasional table pretending otherwise.

How to style it
A few ways to use it:
- Two chairs and nothing else, in a courtyard corner that catches morning sun
- On a covered verandah with a single potted olive on top
- As a breakfast table in a kitchen too small for a rectangular one
- In a conservatory, where the white ironwork reads against the greenery
- With a cloth over it for a long lunch, so only the legs show
Stylist's Tip Leave the top almost bare. The legs are the reason to buy this table, and they only read properly when there is nothing crowding the space underneath, so skip the rug and keep the chairs pulled out.
Care & Keeping
Wipe with a soft damp cloth and dry it off, particularly around the feet. The antique white is meant to keep wearing, so marks from ordinary use settle into the finish rather than standing out. If you keep it outdoors, choose a covered spot and bring it in through long wet weather, since standing water at the pad feet is where rust starts on a painted iron base. Check the fixings under the top every so often and nip them up if they loosen.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many people does it seat?
Two comfortably, three if everyone is friendly. At 80 cm across it is a bistro table, not a dinner party table.
Does it need assembling?
Yes. It ships flat, with the top separate from the base, and the two fix together on arrival. That is also what keeps the freight on it sensible.
Is it stable enough to eat at?
Yes. The four scrolled legs splay out well past the edge of the top, which is what gives it a wide stance on a narrow footprint. Check the top fixings are tight after assembly.
Can I leave it outside all year?
Under cover, yes. Out in open weather the painted finish will give up eventually, and the pad feet are the first place to go, so a verandah or a sheltered courtyard suits it far better than open lawn.
How heavy is it?
8.5 kg, so one person can move it across a courtyard without help. Light enough to shift with the sun, heavy enough not to walk off in a gust.
Because Giverny is finished by hand, the antique white varies a little from piece to piece, so no two are exactly alike. Colour may also vary slightly between screens, all photography is taken in natural light.
