Six panes of clear glass under a pierced gold dome, built for candlelight.
Giselle is a tall six-sided candle lantern, the body glazed on every face so the flame is visible from any angle. Above it sits a pierced domed top worked in open filigree and finished with a turned finial, which lets the heat out and throws a ring of cut light onto the ceiling.
The frame is iron in an antique gold finish, warm and slightly rubbed rather than bright, with the colour deepening in the corners and along the glazing bars. It stands on six small moulded feet that lift the base clear of the table.
At 49 cm tall it is the size that reads from across a room without dominating a table. One works on a hall console or a mantel; a pair either side of something looks deliberate. Our matching floor lanterns carry the same shape on a tall stand if you want the set.

How to style it
A few ways to use it:
- One pillar candle inside, lit in the evening, with the room lights low
- A pair at either end of a mantel, with something low between them
- On a hall console beside a mirror, so the glass picks up the reflection
- With an LED pillar if it is going somewhere it will be left unattended
- Beside the matching floor lanterns for a stepped run of three heights
Stylist's Tip Use a candle shorter than the glass rather than one that fills it. A low flame sitting down in the body is what lights the glazing bars and the dome, where a tall candle just glares through the panes.
Care & Keeping
Wipe the glass with a soft dry cloth and dust the metal with a brush, which reaches into the piercing on the dome. Never leave a lit candle unattended, and keep the lantern away from curtains and anything else that can catch. Let it cool before handling after a candle has burned. Clean soot off the inside of the glass with a dry cloth rather than a wet one. Keep it indoors.

Is a candle included?
No, the lantern comes on its own. A pillar candle or an LED pillar both suit it.
How do I get the candle in?
Through the opening side of the body. Check the fit of a wide candle before you light it, and leave clear space between the flame and the glass above it.
Does it match the floor lanterns?
Yes. It is the tabletop version of the same shape and finish as our tall standing lanterns, so the three sizes group well together.
Can I use it outdoors?
It is made for indoor use. The antique gold finish is not weatherproof, so bring it in rather than leaving it out on a table overnight.
How tall is it exactly?
49 cm to the top of the finial and 15 cm across the body, so it takes up very little table but stands well above everything around it.
Because Giselle is finished by hand, the antique gold varies a little from piece to piece, so no two are exactly alike. Colour may also vary slightly between screens, all photography is taken in natural light.

It was my testing the waters first purchase to check out this new store & what’s on offer. I loved the idea of supplying cast iron cute animal figurines as they’re practical, good looking, solid durable material, great rust finish (no need to buy expensive rust effect paint). Just ready to weather and brings a smile on your dial. I placed my frog with his hands up as if in religious praying gesture next to the concrete funny sign scored at Vinnies reading: grant me patience Lord but hurry - I believe the praying frog and the sign go comically together. I’m thinking of getting the other frog too in its hilarious pose possibly in green patina for contrast. I can confirm it’s heavy cast iron with attractive rust patina. These casts fill the gap in the market dominated by laser cut cortina steel offerings. Just something old school different and complimentary to your garden /house decor. Pleased it’s introduced to Australian market and once for change not made in China… but in France known for its cast iron tradition. We own 18th century French anvil won at an antique auction which is our proud possession so happy to score more in heavy casts.

This may not show on the store website that well but they’re actually old gold colour. It’s lightweight thin metal so perhaps inside or sheltered outdoor space would suit them the best as it may rust out & some fragile parts of the tail break exposed to the weather. They’re as large as described, cleverly designed for packaging - legs are separate with tightening screw. They make an impact due to their size & fit almost any decor with the colour & style.
