A pair of horse head bookends with the quiet authority of an old stable, distressed white and ready to hold a shelf together.
Cavalier is a set of two horse head bookends, cast in magnesium oxide composite and finished in a distressed whitewash that wears back to a soft sandy undertone along the mane, the planes of the face, and the chipped edges of the base. The pair faces inward, framing whatever sits between them.
Each piece stands 24 cm tall and 20.5 cm long, with a solid weighted base that holds a row of hardcovers without slipping. They suit a study shelf, a styled console, a sideboard, or a bedside stack. Beyond the practical job, the silhouette reads as a single sculptural pair, the kind of finish that lifts a row of books from storage to display.

A few ways to put Cavalier to work:
- Stand them at the ends of a row of hardcovers on a study shelf or library wall, with the horse heads facing inward toward the books
- Use one as a standalone sculpture on a console, beside a candle holder or a small decorative sculpture
- Frame a stack of art books on a coffee table for a substantial sitting-room display
- Anchor a styled sideboard with one bookend on each side of a tall vase or a framed mirror for a symmetrical vignette
Stylist's Tip The horse heads work best facing inward toward the books, not outward toward the room. Outward feels confrontational, inward feels composed, like the pair is curating the row between them.
Care & Keeping
Dust gently with a soft dry cloth or a soft-bristle brush for the textured detail in the mane and base. Magnesium oxide is porous, so avoid wet cleaning, harsh chemicals, and prolonged damp. Indoor use only.

Are the two bookends identical or mirrored?
The two pieces are cast from the same mould, so they're identical rather than mirrored. Most buyers face them inward toward the books for a balanced symmetrical look, but they work equally well facing the same direction along a long shelf.
Are they heavy enough to hold real books?
Yes. Each bookend weighs 700 g and has a wide weighted base, so they hold a row of hardcovers without sliding. For very heavy oversized art books, anchor the row against a shelf wall on one side and let Cavalier do the work on the other.
What style of decor do they suit?
French Provincial, French country, English country, traditional library and study interiors. The classical equestrian silhouette also works in modern-vintage and eclectic spaces where a single bold sculptural pair is doing the heavy lifting.
Will every pair look exactly like the photos?
