A larger seated cherub with knees drawn up and head tilted back, gazing upward as if mid-conversation with the sky.
Antoine sits with his knees pulled in close, one leg dropping over the edge, his head tilted back and gaze lifted. He's cast in magnesium oxide composite with a distressed whitewash finish that wears back to a soft sandy undertone along the wings, curls, and the planes of his face. The chip pattern reads as aged stone, the kind of piece you'd find in an old garden room or a French country chapel.
At 34 cm tall and 19 cm wide, Antoine is one of our larger feature cherubs. He's designed to anchor a styled console, mantel, or sideboard, and pairs naturally with our smaller seated cherub Élodie for a layered scene. Style him on his own as a single focal point, or build a vignette by adding pieces from our broader cherub collection.
Why we love it
- ◆ Knees-up, leg-dangling pose, the head tilted back and gaze lifted gives him a quietly thoughtful read rather than ornamental
- ◆ Distressed whitewash on magnesium oxide, chipped highlights across the wings and curls that read as genuinely aged stone
- ◆ Part of a layered cherub collection, set him alongside our smaller cherubs for a contemplative grouping, or anchor a setting with him on his own
- ◆ Feature-piece scale, 34 cm tall, big enough to anchor a mantel, console, or sideboard without overpowering the surface

How to style it
Antoine suits a deliberate, layered setting. A few ideas:
- Perch him on the edge of a sideboard, mantel, or console so his dangling leg falls naturally over the lip
- Pair Antoine with the smaller Élodie cherub and a tall candle holder for a layered vignette
- Build a grouping with other pieces from our sculpture collection and a soft linen runner
- Use him as a quiet focal point above a fireplace or beside an antique mirror
Stylist's Tip Antoine's tilted gaze lifts the eye, so place him below something with visual weight, a piece of art, a mirror, or a tall candle, and the upward look becomes the styling cue that ties the vignette together.
Care & Keeping
Dust gently with a soft dry cloth or a soft-bristle brush for the textured detail in the wings and hair. Magnesium oxide is porous, so avoid wet cleaning, harsh chemicals, and prolonged damp. Indoor or covered outdoor use only.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Antoine sit outside?
He's best as an indoor piece, or on a fully covered verandah or sheltered patio. Magnesium oxide doesn't love rain, frost, or strong direct sun, so full outdoor exposure will dull the finish quickly.
What style of decor does he suit?
French Provincial, French country, English cottage, romantic, and shabby chic interiors. He works as a feature piece on a mantel, sideboard, or console, especially when paired with smaller decorative sculptures.
How big is he?
34 cm tall, 19 cm wide, 20 cm deep. About the height of a wine bottle, so he reads as a feature piece on a console, mantel, or shelf. He pairs naturally with our smaller cherub Élodie (20 cm) for a layered grouping.
Will every cherub look exactly like the photos?
Antoine is hand-finished, so the chip pattern, paint distribution, and sandy undertones vary slightly from piece to piece. That's part of the appeal and the reason he reads as aged rather than mass-produced.
Does he make a good gift?
Yes. Antoine suits milestone gifts, housewarmings, christenings, or as a remembrance keepsake. The scale and pose make him a proper feature piece, and the distressed finish photographs beautifully wrapped in linen or tissue.
Because Antoine is hand-finished, slight variations in patina, texture, and grain are natural and add to the unique character of each piece. Colour may also vary slightly between screens, all photography is taken in natural light.
