The taller of the pair, all filigree, beads and one warm candle behind glass.
Mael is the larger of the two ornate lanterns, in aged metal finished in antique gold with a soft verdigris patina. The scalloped dome is embossed and pierced, with a tall filigree collar, a ring handle and fine beaded chains draped around a clear glass cylinder. Set a pillar candle inside and the pierced work scatters lace-like light around it.
At 32 cm it sits nicely on a table, a mantel or a hall console, and the ring handle means it can hang as well. Use it alone, or beside the smaller Mylan for a graduated pair. The look leans French Provincial with a Moroccan, boudoir edge.

How to style it
It makes a warm centre wherever you set it.

Stylist's Tip Give Mael a pillar candle or a flameless LED to fill the glass cylinder. A taller, wider candle reads better and pushes light through every piercing and bead.
Care & Keeping
Dust gently with a soft dry cloth, and use a soft brush to reach into the filigree and beadwork. Lift out the glass cylinder to wash it clear of soot now and then. Keep the metal dry; indoors or under cover outdoors is best, since steady damp will dull the antique gold and verdigris over time.

Can I use Mael outside?
Indoors is its natural home, but it is fine on a covered verandah or patio out of direct rain and wind. Bring it in over wet spells so the gold and verdigris stay as they are.

Close, not identical. Each lantern is hand-finished, so the gold and the verdigris patina fall a little differently piece to piece. That is part of the look, not a fault.
