A set of scales retired from the market square, weighing nothing now but light and pinecones.
Nimes is a decorative balance in iron, her turned column rising to a scrolled cross arm crowned with a fleur de lis. From each end hangs a shallow dish on three fine chains, free to swing and settle, and the whole of her wears an aged gold finish rubbed back over dark iron.
At 48.5cm tall she brings a little apothecary romance to a bookshelf, a console, or a dressing table, her dishes holding rings, dried pods, or whatever small treasures need a stage.

She is decorative rather than a measuring instrument. The dishes hang and swing like the real thing, but she is here for the romance, not the arithmetic.
What is she made of?
Iron throughout, from the turned column to the chains and dishes, in an aged gold finish rubbed back over the dark ground.
What fits in the dishes?
Small light things, rings, earrings, dried pods, a pinecone, a tealight in its cup. Keep the loads light so she hangs gracefully.
Does she need assembly?
Each dish hangs from its arm by a simple hook, so setting her up is a matter of moments and she packs away just as easily.

Very close. The aged gold is rubbed back by hand, so the pattern of wear shifts a little from piece to piece, which is part of the intended character.
Because Nimes is hand-finished, slight variations in patina, texture, and grain are natural and add to the unique character of each piece. Colour may also vary slightly between screens, all photography is taken in natural light.
