On The Water
A weathered gold bell on a chain, with pierced filigree hearts swinging beneath it to catch the breeze.
Rochelle is a hanging bell finished to look like aged temple metal. The body is spun into a smooth bell shape with a turned finial on top and a short chain for hanging, and underneath the rim sits a cluster of pierced filigree hearts on small links. The finish is the draw, an antique gold worn back to dark patina in places, with the gold catching the light where it has rubbed thin.
The bell measures about 14.5 cm across and 18.5 cm tall, with the chain and hearts adding more length below. Hang it on a verandah, a pergola, a garden hook, or an interior doorway, where the hearts sway and tap softly against the bell in a passing breeze. It also makes an easy gift.

Dust gently with a soft dry cloth. Keep Rochelle indoors or under cover such as a verandah or porch, since steady rain will keep ageing the finish. If you do hang it fully outside, expect the patina to deepen over time, which suits the weathered look but is worth knowing.

It's happiest under cover, on a verandah, porch or pergola, out of constant rain. Hung fully exposed it will keep weathering, which deepens the aged look but is permanent.
Does it actually chime?
Softly. The pierced hearts hang under the rim and tap the bell and each other when the air moves, so it's a gentle sound rather than a loud ring. It isn't a working call-bell.
How big is it?
The bell is about 14.5 cm wide and 18.5 cm tall, roughly the size of a small flowerpot, with the hanging chain and hearts adding more length below.
Will mine look like the photos?
Close, not identical. Rochelle is hand-finished, so the balance of gold to patina shifts from piece to piece. No two are worn in exactly the same way.
