A small bird in a crown, on her own pedestal, with nothing to prove and no intention of proving it.
Jenny Wren is cast in solid cast iron and finished in a natural rust patina that runs warm amber across the feathering and settles darker in the moulding of the foot. She wears a small crown, the neater of the two in this pair of castings, and perches on a turned pedestal with a leaf-moulded foot, cast as one piece with the bird rather than assembled.
At 15cm tall and 7.5cm across the pedestal foot she sits in one hand and is formal enough to hold the end of a mantelpiece. She is built for outdoor life: the iron keeps her upright, and the rust patina is a finish rather than a fault, so weather deepens her instead of wearing her out.

How to style it
She stands on her own pedestal, so she belongs on a flat surface rather than tucked into planting.
- Stand her at one end of a mantelpiece or a hall console
- Put her on a garden wall cap where the pedestal reads against stone
- Set her on a windowsill facing into the room rather than out
- Group her with the rest of our garden sculptures
- Pair her with Tom Tit, listed separately, if you want the couple
Stylist's TipIf she is going next to Tom Tit, leave her on the surface and lift him on a book. Two crowned birds at exactly the same level look like a matched set, and one above the other looks like a conversation.
Care & Keeping
Wipe with a soft dry cloth to lift dust out of the feathering and the moulding of the foot. The rust patina is a finished surface and needs no sealing. Place a felt pad underneath on pale stone or painted timber, because the rust can mark lighter surfaces after rain, and keep harsh chemical cleaners and abrasive pads away from her.

Is she sold on her own?
Yes. She is sold as a single bird. Tom Tit, the slightly taller bird with his own crown, is listed separately if you want the pair.
Can she live outside all year?
Yes. She is cast iron finished in natural rust, so weather is what the finish is for. The colour will deepen and vary over the first season and then settle. Stand her on a pad if the surface under her is pale stone or painted timber.
What is she made of?
Solid cast iron throughout, pedestal included, finished by hand in a natural rust patina. A resin bird of the same size would weigh a fraction of this and would blow off a ledge in the first decent wind.
How big is she?
15cm tall and 7.5cm across the pedestal foot, so about one and a half times the height of a coffee mug. The second photo shows her beside a mug to scale.
Will mine look exactly like the photos?
Close, not identical. Each piece is cast and finished by hand, so the rust falls differently across every one and the depth of colour varies. That is the nature of the finish rather than a flaw.
Because Jenny Wren is hand-finished, slight variations in patina, texture, and grain are natural and add to the unique character of each piece. Colour may also vary slightly between screens, all photography is taken in natural light.

It was my testing the waters first purchase to check out this new store & what’s on offer. I loved the idea of supplying cast iron cute animal figurines as they’re practical, good looking, solid durable material, great rust finish (no need to buy expensive rust effect paint). Just ready to weather and brings a smile on your dial. I placed my frog with his hands up as if in religious praying gesture next to the concrete funny sign scored at Vinnies reading: grant me patience Lord but hurry - I believe the praying frog and the sign go comically together. I’m thinking of getting the other frog too in its hilarious pose possibly in green patina for contrast. I can confirm it’s heavy cast iron with attractive rust patina. These casts fill the gap in the market dominated by laser cut cortina steel offerings. Just something old school different and complimentary to your garden /house decor. Pleased it’s introduced to Australian market and once for change not made in China… but in France known for its cast iron tradition. We own 18th century French anvil won at an antique auction which is our proud possession so happy to score more in heavy casts.

This may not show on the store website that well but they’re actually old gold colour. It’s lightweight thin metal so perhaps inside or sheltered outdoor space would suit them the best as it may rust out & some fragile parts of the tail break exposed to the weather. They’re as large as described, cleverly designed for packaging - legs are separate with tightening screw. They make an impact due to their size & fit almost any decor with the colour & style.
