Pip Wren + Styling Guide
The taller of the two, standing a full head above its sister.
Blandine is a tall footed goblet urn, the bowl running straight down into a turned stem and a wide flared foot, with a scrolled handle curling out from each side. A single raised fleur de lis sits on the front, and that is the only ornament on an otherwise plain body.
It is finished in a mossy verdigris over metal, mottled through olive and ochre and worn back to a darker ground in patches. The surface has real texture to it, closer to something lifted off a terrace than anything that came out of a box.
At 35 cm tall and 28 cm across the handles, it carries a tall arrangement without looking overloaded, and it holds a surface on its own in a way the smaller one does not. Standing it beside the 29 cm version gives you two heights of the same design, which reads as deliberate. More in our vase collection.
Shown here styled with dried grasses, seed heads and eucalyptus, a linen cloth and a candle. Those pieces are for styling only and are not included.
Why we love it
- ◆ Height to carry long stems at 35 cm, without the arrangement toppling forward.
- ◆ A mossy verdigris finish, mottled and worn rather than one flat colour.
- ◆ A raised fleur de lis and two scrolled handles, and nothing else competing.
- ◆ Pairs with the 29 cm version, same design at two heights.

How to style it
A few ways to use it:
- Tall dried stems, which the extra height can actually carry
- Eucalyptus or olive branches, so the green answers the verdigris
- Beside the 29 cm version, with the taller one set slightly back
- On a hall console as the one thing on the surface
- On a covered verandah with a trailing plant in a liner
Stylist's Tip Two of the same height look like a shop display. Set this one behind the smaller urn and off to one side, so the two fleurs de lis sit at different levels and the group reads as collected rather than bought as a set.
Care & Keeping
Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. For fresh flowers, sit a glass or plastic liner inside rather than filling the body directly, and dry the outside if any water runs down. The verdigris is a finish rather than true patina, so avoid scrubbing it. It is light for its height, so take care with tall heavy stems and keep it back from the edge of a surface. Keep it out of standing water if you use it outdoors.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is it different to the smaller one?
Same design, same finish, 6 cm taller and 2 cm wider across the handles. This one takes longer stems and holds a surface on its own.
Can I put water in it?
Use a liner. We do not guarantee it watertight, and standing water inside a metal urn causes trouble over time.
Is the green real patina?
It is a verdigris finish applied to look like decades of weathering. The mottling and worn patches are deliberate, so each one comes out slightly different.
Will it tip with tall stems in it?
The foot is wide and flared, which helps, but it is only 1 kg empty. For anything tall and heavy, weigh the base with a few stones or a sand bag under the liner.
Can it go outside?
In a covered spot, yes. Keep it off wet ground and out of standing water, since that is what shortens the life of a painted finish on iron.
Because Blandine is finished by hand, the verdigris and mottling vary a little from piece to piece, so no two are exactly alike. Colour may also vary slightly between screens, all photography is taken in natural light.
