Seychelle French Provincial Pierced Metal Planter, Footed Cachepot, Antique Gold

Pierced metal worked like lace, footed and handled, holding the light through its pattern.

Seychelle is a small footed cachepot in pierced metal, an urn-shaped body that flares to a rolled rim. The whole surface is worked in a fine filigree pattern, columns of pierced lacework with raised oval bosses between them, so light passes right through the wall. A ring handle sits on each side and three short feet lift it off the table.

The finish is an antique gold with an aged patina, a soft grey caught in the piercing and gold lifting on the raised detail. It has the look of something carried home from a market in the south, equally at home with a fern, with dried stems, or simply left empty as an object.

Because the metal is pierced through, it is not watertight, so it works best as a cachepot, with your plant kept in its own pot or a liner set inside. The fern, dried foliage, statue, and other pots in the photographs are styling and are not included.

Care & Keeping

Wipe with a soft, dry cloth, working gently around the pierced detail. Keep a liner or an inner pot between any soil or water and the metal, since the body is not watertight. Best kept indoors or somewhere covered so the aged finish holds, and dried straight away if it ever gets wet. The patina is part of the look and will soften over time.

Because Seychelle is finished by hand, the patina and tone vary a little from piece to piece, so no two are exactly alike. Colour may also vary slightly between screens, all photography is taken in natural light.
