Two small birds in a chalky whitewash, one with its tail thrown out behind it, the other tucked down and content.
The Cameron set is two cast magnesia composite birds finished to look like aged stone. The surface is a chalky whitewashed cream worn back along the wing feathers, the tail and the beak, so a warm brown base reads through wherever the paint has rubbed away. One bird sits low and round with a short upswept tail and a smooth breast. The other has a broad fanned tail carried out behind it and deeply carved wing feathers running down its side.
They are small enough to tuck among books or along a windowsill, and they read best when the two are given a little distance rather than lined up together. The pair suits a French country shelf or a spring tablescape, and the two are sold together as a set of two.

How to style it
Birds read best in pairs and in good company.
- Set both on a stack of old books beside a small vase.
- Group them with other small pieces from our sculptures and statues.
- Add them to the Lucas set if you want a small flock rather than a pair.
- Sit one on a windowsill and one on the mantel so the pair carries across the room.
- Pair with linen, lace and a toile cloth for a soft French country table.
Stylist's Tip Keep the two at slightly different heights, one raised on a book or a box, so the pair looks gathered rather than lined up in a row. Turn them a little towards each other and they read as company.
Care & Keeping
Cast magnesia composite has a stone-like surface made for outdoor life. In the open garden the whitewashed finish will soften and weather over time, which adds to the aged look. Keep the birds out of standing water, apply a clear outdoor sealer once a year for the longest life, and lift rather than drag them across timber.

Two. One order is the set, one bird in each pose, and they are not sold separately.
How is this different from the Lucas set?
They are companion sets in the same finish, so the two look at home together. Cameron and Lucas each arrive as their own pair of poses. If you want more than two birds on a shelf, taking one of each set is the easiest way to do it.
Can they go outside?
Yes. They suit the open garden, a patio or a verandah as well as indoors. Outdoors the whitewashed finish will soften and weather over time, which adds to the aged look. Keep them out of standing water for the longest life.
What style do they suit?
French provincial, French country and cottage interiors, and anywhere with a soft, vintage feel.
Will the two birds look identical?
No. They are two different poses to begin with, and each one is hand-finished, so the whitewash and the distressing fall a little differently on every bird.

It was my testing the waters first purchase to check out this new store & what’s on offer. I loved the idea of supplying cast iron cute animal figurines as they’re practical, good looking, solid durable material, great rust finish (no need to buy expensive rust effect paint). Just ready to weather and brings a smile on your dial. I placed my frog with his hands up as if in religious praying gesture next to the concrete funny sign scored at Vinnies reading: grant me patience Lord but hurry - I believe the praying frog and the sign go comically together. I’m thinking of getting the other frog too in its hilarious pose possibly in green patina for contrast. I can confirm it’s heavy cast iron with attractive rust patina. These casts fill the gap in the market dominated by laser cut cortina steel offerings. Just something old school different and complimentary to your garden /house decor. Pleased it’s introduced to Australian market and once for change not made in China… but in France known for its cast iron tradition. We own 18th century French anvil won at an antique auction which is our proud possession so happy to score more in heavy casts.

This may not show on the store website that well but they’re actually old gold colour. It’s lightweight thin metal so perhaps inside or sheltered outdoor space would suit them the best as it may rust out & some fragile parts of the tail break exposed to the weather. They’re as large as described, cleverly designed for packaging - legs are separate with tightening screw. They make an impact due to their size & fit almost any decor with the colour & style.
