Versailles takes its cue from the gilded mirrors that line the state rooms of the palace he is named for. The rectangular frame is wrapped in sculpted acanthus scrolls, rope-twist beading and pierced cresting, then crowned with a sculpted cartouche at the top centre. The finish is layered, antique white worn back at the corners and the high points of the sculpted relief to reveal the warm gold-toned base underneath.
