Raoul French Provincial Pierced Pedestal Planter, Aged Metal 31cm

A footed planter in pierced metal, floral cutwork worn to a soft rusted patina, the smaller of a pair.

Raoul is a pedestal planter made from pierced aged metal, with a band of floral cutwork wrapped around a footed cup. Small ring handles sit at the sides, and the whole piece has weathered to a soft rusted brown patina that looks like it has spent years in a garden room. The openwork lets light through the sides, so it reads as much like a lantern as a planter.

At 31cm tall it is the smaller of two matching sizes. Slip a potted fern or trailing ivy inside, use it as a sleeve over a plain nursery pot, or sit a pillar candle in it and let the cutwork throw patterned shadows. It looks best with a little height planted into it, and pairs beautifully with the taller version for a stepped duo.

Care & Keeping

Dust with a soft dry cloth, working gently around the cutwork. The sides are pierced, so this is a decorative sleeve rather than a watertight pot, sit a potted plant inside and water it elsewhere. Keep it indoors or under cover outside, the rusted aged finish will weather further if it sits out in the rain.

Because Raoul is hand-finished, slight variations in patina, texture and grain are natural and add to the character of each piece. Colour may also vary slightly between screens, all photography is taken in natural light.
