On The Water
A footed planter in pierced metal, floral cutwork worn to a soft rusted patina, the smaller of a pair.
Raoul is a pedestal planter made from pierced aged metal, with a band of floral cutwork wrapped around a footed cup. Small ring handles sit at the sides, and the whole piece has weathered to a soft rusted brown patina that looks like it has spent years in a garden room. The openwork lets light through the sides, so it reads as much like a lantern as a planter.
At 31cm tall it is the smaller of two matching sizes. Slip a potted fern or trailing ivy inside, use it as a sleeve over a plain nursery pot, or sit a pillar candle in it and let the cutwork throw patterned shadows. It looks best with a little height planted into it, and pairs beautifully with the taller version for a stepped duo.

How to style it
Raoul is happy planted, lit or paired. A few placements:
- Slip a potted fern or ivy inside and stand it with your other planters
- Pair it with the taller size for a stepped duo on a hearth or step
- Sit a pillar candle inside and let the cutwork glow alongside your lanterns
- Use it as a sleeve over a plain nursery pot on a covered porch with your garden pieces
Stylist's Tip Buy it with the taller size and group the two. A short and tall pair of the same planter, one planted and one with a candle, gives you an easy layered moment on a step or hearth.
Care & Keeping
Dust with a soft dry cloth, working gently around the cutwork. The sides are pierced, so this is a decorative sleeve rather than a watertight pot, sit a potted plant inside and water it elsewhere. Keep it indoors or under cover outside, the rusted aged finish will weather further if it sits out in the rain.

Can I plant straight into it?
No, the sides are pierced, so it is not watertight. Sit a potted plant inside instead and water it over a sink, then pop it back. It also works as a sleeve over a plain nursery pot.
Is this the tall or short size?
This is the shorter size at 31cm. A taller matching version at 39.5cm is sold separately, and the two look lovely grouped together.
Can it go outside?
It can sit on a covered porch or sheltered spot. The aged metal already carries a rusted patina, and it will weather further in steady rain, so undercover keeps it closest to how it arrives.
Is it cast iron?
No. It is pierced aged metal rather than cast iron, which keeps it light and easy to move around.
Will mine look like the photos?
Close, not identical. The rusted patina is hand-finished, so the colour and wear vary a little from piece to piece.
Because Raoul is hand-finished, slight variations in patina, texture and grain are natural and add to the character of each piece. Colour may also vary slightly between screens, all photography is taken in natural light.
