Raised on a slim pedestal, the mesh cage carries one small flame up to eye height.
Astrid is a standing candle lantern that lifts a pierced cage on a slim turned pedestal. The head is built from aged metal in an antique gold finish, with a fine diamond mesh dome, an embossed openwork band and a small ring latch that opens to take the candle. A glass cup inside shields the flame, so the light glows out warm through the mesh.
At 86 cm it stands at floor height, made to sit on the ground rather than a table. Set one in an entryway, beside a fireplace or at the turn of a staircase, where the raised cage throws light at standing eye level. It pairs with the taller Celine at 93.5 cm for a graduated set, or holds its own alone.

How to style it
It works best on the floor where a low warm light is welcome.
- Stand a pair either side of a fireplace with the rest of our lanterns.
- Set one in an entryway beside a mirror to bounce the candlelight.
- Group it with the taller Celine and other candle holders in graduated heights.
- Move it to a covered verandah for still evenings, alongside our garden and outdoor pieces.
Stylist's Tip Use a wide pillar candle or a chunky battery LED rather than a thin taper. The glass cup sits low in the cage, so a fuller candle fills the mesh with light instead of leaving the top dim.
Care & Keeping
Dust gently with a soft dry cloth, working into the mesh and the openwork band with a soft brush now and then. Lift the head off its latch to clean the glass cup and clear any soot. Keep the metal dry; indoors or under cover outdoors is best, since steady damp will mark the antique gold over time.

Can I use Astrid outside?
Indoors on the floor is its natural home, but it is fine on a covered verandah or patio out of direct rain and wind. Bring it in over wet spells so the antique gold stays clean.

How tall is Astrid?

Will mine look exactly like the photos?
Close, not identical. Each lantern is hand-finished, so the depth of the antique gold and the small marks in the patina differ a little piece to piece. That is part of the look, not a fault.
Does it come with a candle?
No. The candle is not included, so you can use your own pillar candle or a flameless LED in the glass cup inside. Astrid and the taller Celine are sold separately.
Because Astrid is hand-finished, slight variations in the antique gold patina and finish are natural and part of the character of each lantern. Colour may also vary slightly between screens; all photography is taken in natural light.
