On The Water
Candlelight broken into a soft lattice, with a single fleur-de-lis catching the gold.
Sophie is a tapering candle lantern built from fine aged gold metal mesh, with a clear glass hurricane inside to shelter the flame. A moulded fleur-de-lis medallion sits on the front, its scrollwork picked out against the diamond mesh. The fluted dome top lifts on a small clasp and carries a ring handle, so you can hang her or set her down.
At 32.5 cm tall she takes a standard pillar candle and throws a low, patterned light across a table or mantel. Use her indoors, or under a covered patio where she stays dry. Sophie is the smaller of a pair; her taller companion Stephanie is listed separately for layering two heights together.

A little candlelight goes a long way with a piece this open.

Stylist's Tip A plain pillar suits her better than a scented one. The mesh and glass hold the throw close, so you get warmth and flicker rather than fragrance, and a flameless LED keeps the same look with none of the worry.
Care & Keeping
Dust gently with a soft dry cloth, and lift out the glass to wash it by hand once it clouds with soot. Keep the metal dry; if she lives outdoors, bring her under cover in wet weather so the aged finish holds. Never leave a burning candle unattended, and a flameless LED pillar removes the risk altogether.

Can I use Sophie outside?
Yes, under cover. She suits a sheltered patio or verandah where she stays dry. The aged metal will weather faster in direct rain and full sun, so bring her in for storms and over winter.
What decor does she suit?
French Provincial, French country and cottage rooms most of all. The mesh and fleur-de-lis also sit happily in transitional and Hamptons-leaning spaces that want one ornate, candlelit accent.
How big is she?
32.5 cm tall and 16.5 cm across the base, a touch taller than a standard bottle of wine. She holds a regular pillar candle of around 7 to 8 cm wide.
Will mine look exactly like the photos?
Each lantern is hand-finished, so the patina and the depth of the gold shift a little from piece to piece. Small marks in the finish belong to the aged look rather than counting as faults.
Is the candle included, and is this the pair?
The candle is styling only and not included. Sophie sells on her own as the smaller size. The taller Stephanie is a separate listing if you want both heights together.
Because Sophie is hand-finished, slight variations in patina, texture, and grain are natural and add to the unique character of each piece. Colour may also vary slightly between screens, all photography is taken in natural light.
