The shape you find in an old garden, brought inside and put on a shelf.
Brandon is a decorative urn cast in magnesia, with a ribbed body that narrows into a lidded top finished with a turned finial. The surface is painted in a textured distressed white, chipped back in places so it looks like something that has stood somewhere for a long while. Sold individually, so you can buy one or build a group.
This is the small size, 48cm tall on a 16cm by 16cm base, weighing around 2.7kg. That height gives real presence on a mantel, a console or an entry table without needing the floor space of a full garden urn. It also works standing on a hearth or at the end of a sideboard. If you are building a shelf, it sits well with our other sculptures and statues.

How to style it
An urn is a shape, so give it something plainer to stand against.
- Set it at one end of a mantel with a stack of books at the other, leaving the middle open.
- Group it with the larger sizes for a run of three heights on a console or sideboard.
- Stand it on the hearth beside a fireplace where the vertical line balances the opening.
- Keep the surrounds quiet, a dried branch or a linen runner is enough. Anything busier fights the ribbing.

Care & Keeping
Dust with a dry soft cloth or a soft brush, working along the ribbing rather than across it. Wipe with a barely damp cloth if it needs more, then dry it. Magnesia is porous and the finish is a paint, so avoid soaking it, and skip solvents, bleach and abrasive pads. Lift it by the body rather than the finial, and set it down on felt pads if the surface underneath is polished timber.

Is this sold as one urn or a set?
One urn. This listing is the small size, 48cm high. The other sizes are listed separately if you would like to group them.
What is magnesia?
A cast composite that behaves much like stone, cool to the touch and solid in the hand, but noticeably lighter than concrete. It is what gives this urn its weight and its finish.
Does the lid come off?
The urn is designed as a decorative piece with a finial lid on top rather than as a storage vessel, so treat it as a sculptural object rather than a container.
Can it live outside in the garden?
Only under full cover. Magnesia is porous and this one is painted, so rain, frost and sprinkler spray will get into the surface and lift the finish. A protected verandah or a covered entry is fine, an open garden bed is not.
Is the chipped look a fault?
No, it is the finish. The white is applied with texture and then knocked back deliberately so the piece reads as aged. Every urn is chipped in different places.
Because Brandon is hand-finished, slight variations in the distressing, chipping and surface texture are natural and add to the character of each piece. Colour may also vary slightly between screens, all photography is taken in natural light.
