Matheo French Provincial Birdcage Candle Holder, Distressed White Metal

A tall white birdcage that turns a single candle into a soft, caged glow.

Matheo is the larger of our birdcage candle holders, built in aged metal and finished in a distressed white with the worn, chalky look of old French garden ironwork. The domed cage sits on a turned base and opens to hold a candle inside, so the light reads through slim white bars.

It stands 62 cm tall on a 17.5 cm square footprint, enough height to anchor a console, a mantel, or the centre of a table. Set a pillar or a glass tealight on the base inside the cage. Candle not included.

Care & Keeping

Dust gently with a soft dry cloth, taking care around the worn edges where the finish is meant to be chipped. Keep it indoors or somewhere fully sheltered, the distressed finish is decorative and is not made for weather. Use a glass cup or plate inside the cage to catch wax.

Because Matheo is hand-finished, slight variations in the distressed white and the worn edges are natural and add to the character of each piece. Colour may also vary slightly between screens, all photography is taken in natural light.
