A small handled urn in antique gold metal, the kind of warm, worn shine that lifts a shelf or a sideboard.
Benjamin is a small urn planter in aged metal with twin scroll handles. The lower bowl is gadrooned in soft vertical ribs, with a pierced openwork band of linked ovals below the rim and a gadrooned foot. The finish is an antique gold, rubbed back to a darker patina so the gold reads warm and worn rather than bright.
It stands 29 cm tall and about 33 cm across the handles, a tabletop size rather than a floor urn. The pierced band means it works best as a cachepot, with a potted plant or a liner dropped inside. Use it on a console, shelf or dining table, or set it among books and candles as a decorative piece. The fern shown is for styling and is not included.
Why we love it
- ◆ Small handled-urn shape, the classic French urn scaled down for a table or shelf.
- ◆ Aged metal in antique gold, with a pierced openwork band and a gadrooned bowl and foot.
- ◆ A cachepot at heart, drop a potted plant or a liner inside and the urn dresses it up.
- ◆ An easy gift, a small statement that suits a console, a bookshelf or a styled tabletop.

How to style it
A few ways to use it:
- Drop a potted fern or trailing plant inside as a cachepot, the way it is styled here
- Set it on a console or shelf with your other planters for a collected look
- Use it on a dining table with candles and greenery for a centrepiece
- Fill it with faux stems or dried flowers for a low-care display
Stylist's Tip The pierced band lets light through, so it looks best raised on a shelf or table where you can see the openwork. Keep the plant simple and let the antique gold do the work.
Care & Keeping
Dust gently with a soft dry cloth. This is a decorative metal piece, so keep it indoors or in a dry, covered spot, and avoid leaving water sitting in it. Use a potted plant or a waterproof liner inside rather than planting directly, and wipe up any spills so the finish stays as it is.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I plant directly in it?
It works best as a cachepot. The band is pierced and it is a decorative metal piece, so drop a potted plant or a waterproof liner inside rather than filling it with soil and water.
Can I use it outdoors?
It is best kept indoors or in a dry, covered spot. The antique gold is a decorative metal finish, so steady rain and damp will mark it over time.
Is it real gold?
No. The gold is an aged, antique-gold finish over metal, not a precious metal. It is meant to read as old gilded metal.
What size is it?
It stands 29 cm tall and about 33 cm across the handles. It is a tabletop urn rather than a floor piece, and light at around 1 kg.
What style of decor does it suit?
French Provincial, classical and traditional looks. The warm antique gold also suits richer, layered and eclectic interiors.
Because Benjamin is hand-finished, slight variations in the antique gold and patina are natural and add to the character of each piece. Colour may also vary slightly between screens, all photography is taken in natural light.
