Lady Peaseblossom French Provincial Fairy Statue, Rust Cast Iron 30cm

Lady Peaseblossom is a seated fairy cast in solid iron and finished in a natural rust patina, large butterfly wings open behind her, long hair falling forward, one knee drawn up and her chin resting on her hand. She sits on a sphere moulded all over with wildflowers and grasses. She weighs 5.4 kg, which is the difference between cast iron and the resin and magnesia pieces that copy this shape. The casting carries the veining of the wings, the fall of the hair and every flower head on the ball beneath her.

At 30cm she is the size of a table lamp, small enough to lift with one hand and detailed enough to hold a spot on her own. She is built for outdoor life: the iron is heavy for her size, and the rust patina is a finish rather than a fault, so weather deepens her instead of wearing her out.

• Stand her on an outdoor table or a potting bench
• Bring her in to a windowsill or a shelf through winter

Care & Keeping

Wipe with a soft dry cloth to lift dust out of the wing veining and between the moulded flowers. The rust patina is a finished surface and needs no sealing. Place a felt pad or a saucer underneath on pale stone or painted timber, and keep harsh chemical cleaners and abrasive pads away from her.

Because Lady Peaseblossom is hand-finished, slight variations in patina, texture, and grain are natural and add to the unique character of each piece. Colour may also vary slightly between screens, all photography is taken in natural light.
